Prime Minister Internship Scheme Portal has gone live for registration of candidates. Candidates can register themselves on the portal through https://pminturnship.mca.gov.in.

Scheme conditions
To join this internship program, candidates have to fulfill some eligibility criteria. For this, the age of the intern should be between 21 and 24 years and the annual income of his family should not exceed Rs 8 lakh. Candidates currently pursuing a formal degree course or working will not be able to become a part of this internship program. However, these candidates can join online courses or vocational training.

In order to develop skills that will provide employment to the youth in the internship program, its guidelines clearly state that the job of the interns should be completely skill-based. It does not include menial jobs.

Structure and cost of the internship program
The financial structure of the internship program has been designed in such a way that corporate participation is very important in it. For this, companies will bear the cost of training the interns through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) budget. Every intern will be given a stipend. Candidates will get Rs 5,000 per month. For this, Rs 500 will be given from the CSR fund of the companies, while Rs 4,500 will be given by the government. Apart from this, the government will also make a one-time payment of Rs 6,000 to every intern.

A unique feature of this internship program is that corporates can give jobs to interns not only within their core business but also in their supply chain and their group companies. However, certification of the internship must come from the main company of the group, so as to maintain the credibility and uniformity of the program.
